The deceased, a 27-year-old man with children, had an adverse reaction after getting hydrated and died while going to the hospital.
A man died of a heart attack in Peru after drinking very cold water after doing sports. The event occurred last week in the northwestern town of Piura.
That's Ludwin Flores Nole, a 27-year-old "amateur" footballer who has played for the Los Rangers regional team. According to his wife, the man was hydrated with water from the fridge when he arrived home after a party during Labor Day.
"Shortly after, he got sick, he had a sore chest and we took him to a clinic, but he died on his way back in. The doctor told us that he had suffered a fulminant cardiac arrest, "said the woman.
It appeared that the father had undergone what is called a digestion or hydrocution break, a change in blood pressure and heart rate produced by a thermal shock. The icy water would have contracted the blood vessels near the heart of Flores, giving rise to a heart attack which, in such severe cases, will result in cardiac arrest.
