One of the most powerful opponents of Vladimir Putin was killed in a mysterious road accident shortly after criticizing the government for the fatal fire of a Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft that killed 41 of 78 people on board.
The moment of the accident was captured by CCTV video surveillance cameras. The pictures show the moment Sergey Dorenko, 59, loses control of his vehicle and enters the traffic while driving his new motorcycle in Moscow.
The journalist, who fell off the bike but was not touched by another vehicle, died shortly after the accident. He was declared dead at the scene, followed by official reports stating that he had died of natural causes after suffering a "severe heart failure". However, an autopsy has not yet officially confirmed the cause of his death, which caused this deficiency.
A driver who witnessed the crash told the Russian media that Dorenko had fallen off his motorcycle before she crashed against a fence. "I drove my car to Zemlyanoy Val towards Taganskaya Square, the motorcycle was heading towards me. Suddenly he skidded, placing himself laterally against the fences, but the motorcyclist fell before him and rolled onto the sidewalk.", described the witness.
"I stopped and I helped drag him to the side of the road. His eyes were open, there was no visible trauma on his body"he added.
A source told the news agency Interfax "his heart stopped working and he could not keep control of his bike. Injuries sustained during the fall of the motorcycle were not serious"he said.
according to RIA Nóvosti, It is common for paramedics to clbadify this death as heart failure when someone dies on the street. "In the case of Dorenko, it is a preliminary reason, the real cause will be known only after the autopsy," he said.
The radio station where Dorenko was working said Friday that his editor had died as a result of internal bleeding after a rupture of the aorta, the main artery of the human body.
Dorenko was known to have criticized the Russian authorities for a succession of disasters, while he believed that the causes of these deaths were disguised. More recently, he raised uncomfortable questions about the tragedy of Aeroflot Sunday in Moscow, during which 41 people died.
Previously, in 2000, he had been fired from a Russian government television channel as a result of strong criticism that he had addressed to Putin after the sinking of a nuclear submarine in the region of Kursk in which 118 sailors were dead. "The story of the Kursk submarine is not over. The main conclusion is that [los que están en] the power does not respect us … that's why they lie. And the main thing – power treats us this way just because we allow it", he denounced on this occasion.
Suspecting (rightly so) that he would be fired, he finished his report: "I wish you the best".
