Six dead, including a priest, for an attack on a church in Burkina Faso

At least six people died Sunday, including a priest, for an attack by armed men in a church in northern Burkina Faso, confirmed sources of security at Radio France International.

The attack took place this morning, especially in the city of Dablo, Sanmatenga province, and was perpetrated by a group of armed men who opened fire at the beginning of the mbad.

Burkina Faso has recorded in recent months a growing activity of jihadist groups. Ansarul Islam, an indigenous terrorist group, and the Islamic and Muslim Support Group (JNIM), a jihadist organization that brings together four other organizations, including AQIM and Al Murabitun, and to a lesser extent the state. Islamic in the Great Sahara (ISGS).

According to the "Center for Reflection" on the African Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS), the number of attacks by these groups would have increased from only three in 2015 to twelve in 2016, 29 in 2017 and 137 in 2018.
