Colombia on Tuesday presented a plan to serve the 1,400 Venezuelan military and police who left Nicolás Maduro's regime. and they sheltered in the country.

The agreement includes measures in the fields of education, health and work, among others "while the conditions in their country of origin allow them to return to exercise their functions in the public force ".
Since last February 23 hundreds of Venezuelans have tried to enter their country with tons of humanitarian aid to alleviate the crisis, 1,400 members of the armed forces sought protection from Colombia.
"The Colombian national government will determine the beneficiaries on the basis of information gathered from Migración Colombia, which will include its family nuclei, in order to determine the total number of people living in these conditions in the country."said the Foreign Ministry.
After this process they will be able to access the Special Permit of permanence (PEP) for a period of validity of 90 days renewable automatically up to two years.
Of the same shape, the entity will issue a work permit of a maximum duration of two years to authorize the deserters of the army and the police, as well as their relatives, "to exercise a remunerated professional activity that allows them to provide for their needs and support during their stay in Colombia".
In addition, will be trained by the National Learning Service (SENA) and basic badistance with the support of the National Disaster Risk Management Unit (UNGRD).
The Foreign Ministry stressed that while Venezuelan uniforms are in the country "they will not be able to perform military, police, security or defense duties", because they will receive benefits, they will have the status of civilians.
Venezuelan crisis forced 1,260,594 people to flee to Colombiaof which 770,975 have done so regularly and the remaining 489,619 irregularly, according to figures from Migración Colombia.
