Foreign tourist arrivals by air increased 23% in the first quarter

One in four arrived from Europe, with average stays of two weeks and four- and five-star hotels among the most selected accommodations.

Foreign tourist arrivals by air in Argentina increased by 23.1% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, with an increase of one year on the other. 23.8% in March.

"Tourism continues to grow, guaranteeing real jobs throughout the country and consolidating its position as a pillar of the national economy," said Tourism Secretary of the Nation Gustavo Santos.

According to the international survey on tourism published today by the Indec, 26.3% of the 743,500 tourists who entered the country via the airport. Ezeiza and Buenos Aires airport in the first quarter came from Europe, while the 22.5% came from Europe. One hundred arrived from Brazil and 15% from the United States or Canada.

The report also states that the average stay was fourteen nights and was extended to twenty for European tourists and that the average cost was $ 75.6 and rose to $ 97 for Uruguayan tourists. During the quarter, the cost of tourists flown in the country as a whole was $ 827.3 million and increased by 17.5% in pesos and in real terms.

ETI also indicated that travel / leisure was the main reason for traveling, nearly 50% of the total. 36.2% spent the night in four- and five-star hotels. Buenos Aires captured 51.5% of overnight stays. 82.6% of tourists traveled without a package.

The influx of tourists into the country's airports – not including Ezeiza and Aeroparque – rose 60.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2019.
