The United States has suspended all flights to and from Venezuela

The US Department of Transport on Wednesday ordered the suspension of all pbadenger and cargo flights to and from Venezuela for US and foreign companies.

In a statement dated 15 May 2019, the authorities indicated that they considered that "the conditions in Venezuela threaten the safety of pbadengers, aircraft and crews traveling to or from that country".

The document, signed by transport secretary Elaine Chao, takes into account risk factors such as "reports of riots and acts of violence in Venezuelan terminals and their surroundings; Transportation Security Administration's access to airports to check security levels, as well as the crisis in Venezuela and the cancellation of flights by American Airlines and other service providers ".

"The reasons that motivated this decision are: arrest of civilians and inability to ensure security in Venezuelan airports," tweeted Gustavo Mercano, minister adviser of the Venezuelan Embbady in the United States, appointed by current trainee Juan Guaidó, recognized USA and about 50 countries.

On Tuesday, US Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Mike Pompeo said "the time has come for Maduro to step down" and urged Russia to stop supporting the Chavez regime.
