Donald Trump has banned US companies from using foreign telecommunications equipment considered "risky"

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday banned US companies from using telecommunications equipment from foreign companies considered risky for national security, which seems to indicate that China is in full trade tension with Beijing.

Trump said a "national emergency" to publish the decree, which applies in particular to the Chinese giant Huawei.

The White House said it was taking the decision to protect the country "foreign opponents who create and exploit more and more vulnerabilities in infrastructure and information technology services and communications to United States".

The presidential decree claims to respond to "malicious acts favored by the Internet, including economic and industrial espionage to the detriment of the United States and its people".

Given the possibility that Trump issued such a decree, the Chinese authorities had already denounced an abuse of power by Washington to eliminate Chinese companies from the free play of competition.

"The United States has long abused its power to deliberately discredit Chinese companies and push them back at any cost, which is neither fair nor respectable," said Geng Shuang, spokesman for Chinese diplomacy.

The official accused Washington of using the "pretext of national security" to prevent Chinese companies from investing and gaining market share in the United States.
