Free zones already belong to Rosario

On a historic day, municipal, provincial and national authorities yesterday took possession of the lands belonging to the free zone of Bolivia and Paraguay. They visited both properties and signed an act whereby these lands became dependent on the Stewardship.

After 40 years, the doors of the two recovered properties have been opened. The territory, which was the free zone of Bolivia, covers a length of 553 meters and a variable width of about 60 meters on average.

It is located in the city center of the Paraná shore, an area unaffected by the use of the port due to municipal urban regulation and where a space for public use is provided.

After countless efforts by the municipality and the Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Faurie, Rosario lands and Mayor Monica Fein are already dreaming of projects that could be developed there.

The next step will be to clean it up and remove all debris, but for that you will have to perform customs procedures because what is there belongs to Bolivia.

Officials observed the state of abandonment of the property, since the last registration of mooring dates from 1988. The space has suffered significant deterioration and destruction. This also generated a security risk for the area, due to the existence of grids and fabrics and insufficient lighting.

"We were able to walk for the first time in this property that we have never traveled, it's an excellent opportunity for the city and its view is magnificent," Fein admitted, after having traveled the site in company of provincial and national officials.

He has found more waste than expected and is already working with Bolivia to compact and remove them.

He also said that the state of the docks will have to be controlled because, being old, they may collapse.

In the property, there are five hangars, of which only one could be kept, the largest, which could be recovered for public use.

Fein said that there would be the Mercado del Río.

For his part, Mariano Vergara, director of coordination of binational commissions related to the money basin of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, went to Rosario to deliver the property and said that there could be an official act in the coming days the presence of the Argentine Chancellor.

He badured that all the management could be carried out "in good conditions" and that what happened yesterday "transcends the governments of the day" since it took many years and that 's in it. it was finally possible to realize it.

Paraguayan area

Yesterday, the Paraguayan Free Zone was also returned to Rosario, located in the local port, opposite the University Center of Rosario.

This land, also three hectares, occupies a large part of the Puerto Rosario terminal. So, until yesterday, to work, it was necessary to surround the free zone.

Vergara said that they had already begun discussions with Paraguayan diplomats to determine where the free zone of that country could be relocated. "They are very interested in recovery and investment, for which they are preparing an ambitious project," said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the possibilities envisaged, the Paraguayan free zone could be located south of the city. The provincial government and the municipality should evaluate the possibilities of transferring these lands to the neighboring country.

With regard to the relocation of the Bolivian free zone, this country has not yet begun its efforts to obtain another land.

After the tour, Fein thought happily, "We should not give up, even if it takes years."
