Explosive bombing in Lyon, central France

A serious bomb attack left thirteen wounded in the French city of Lyon. A bomb with nails and bolts caused damage. The anti-terrorist unit investigates the case.

When all parties put an end to their campaigns for the European elections tomorrow, a strong explosion moved the historic center of the French city of Lyon at five thirty. He left at least 13 injured, including an eight-year-old girl, but until now there are no serious casualties. No one has claimed the terrorist act, but in recent years, France has suffered a series of attacks from Islamic extremism.

It was after security cameras in the region found him placing the bolt-laden explosive in the center of Lyon, a French industrial city located two and a half hours from Paris by train. The man had arrived by bike and is highly wanted by the police. The investigation into the case, recorded two days before the European elections, was entrusted to the antiterrorist section of the Paris prosecutor's office. President Emmanuel Macron defined the denotation as an "attack", without specifying whether it was a terrorist act, even if everything is going in the same direction.

The alleged perpetrator has not yet been arrested, while the police broadcast via social networks an appeal to witnesses who can identify it.

The bomb he laid was in a backpack containing screws, nails and other materials, local media reported. The French Minister of the Interior, Christophe Castaner, has ordered the reinforcement of security in public places and cultural and religious sports events.
