A Pennsylvania psychotherapist who was on vacation in the Dominican Republic died at the same hotel where a few American tourists were found dead five days later, officials said.

Miranda Schaup-Werner, from Allentown, was preparing to dine with her husband when he began to feel bad and died on May 25, authorities said.

Family spokesman Jay McDonald told WFMZ-TV in Allentown that the 41-year-old woman had collapsed after drinking something in the minibar.

The prosecution announced on Wednesday that forensic experts had taken samples and conducted toxicological tests and other tests to determine the cause of death.

Police are also investigating the death of a Maryland couple at the same location, the Bahía Príncipe hotel in La Romana. According to officials, the couple reportedly had respiratory problems and found fluid in their lungs.
