Already recognized brands of five-star hotels that are in
Puerto Madero, like Hilton, Faena and Alvear Icon, will join the landing of W, a chain of the Marriott group. As the company announced today, the grand opening is scheduled for 2024.
The hotel chain has reached an agreement with the local construction company GNV Group to bring the W mark into the Madero Harbor tower, a 400,000-square-meter complex located on Dock 1 in Puerto Madero. It will be an investment of 100 million US dollars.
This 150-room hotel will be located in a multi-purpose tower of 35 floors. It will be designed by the Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott and the local studio BMA. There will be meeting spaces, restaurants and a bar on the terrace.
In Latin America, the W brand is also present in Bogotá, Panama and Santiago de Chile, among other cities. It is a chain of luxury hotels that is part of the Marriott group and which focuses on the youngest age group.
Marriott has more than 7,000 properties and 30 brands in 131 countries.
It is the largest hotel group in the world since the acquisition of its competitor Starwood, known as the Sheraton brand.
The hotel sector is part of the tourism industry. For this year, the government aims to reach 9 million international visitors and leave behind the last record arrival of foreigners recorded in 2014, during which 6 million tourists have entered the country.
