They find a rock that looked like gold but that turned out to be a meteorite, in Australia

Four years ago, in 2015, David Hole was in Maryborough Regional Park, armed with a metal detector looking for gold in the area.

But he would find something out of the ordinary: a very heavy rock that, being in the place that was, I do not doubt that it contained the precious metal inside and was trying to open it.

He tried to break the rock with everything he had at his fingertips: with a drill, with a mallet, throw it to the ground, but without success. Failed by its nature, the man decided to keep the rock for years.

Until the day Hole decided to take her to the Melbourne Museum for identification and the geologists gave her a surprise of her life: they confirmed, not only that there was no trace of gold, but that it 's been a rare meteorite of about four thousand 600 million years ago composed mainly of iron.
