Facebook Messenger Kids allowed kids to connect with unapproved users in group chats.

Messenger Kids is the Facebook messaging application specifically designed for users under the age of 13, with enhanced security measures and enhanced parental control, in which a "technical error" in groups has allowed children to communicate with users who had not previously approved by the parents.

An error in the system of group discussions of the application for children avoids the protection that limits communications to contacts approved by their parents.

Thus, if a child participated in a group discussion created by another approved child and there were unknown unapproved contacts, the first child could join the group and communicate with them despite the established pattern.

A Facebook spokesman confirmed to Europa Press that they had "recently notified" parents whose children have a Messenger Kids account a "technical error" detected "affecting a small number of group discussions".

"We have disabled affected cats and provided parents with additional resources on Messenger Kids and online safety," said the spokesperson.
