A group of eight criminals heavily armed and dressed as federal police officers from Brazil stole about 750 kilograms of gold on Thursday.

Gold was stored at a cargo terminal at Guarulhos International Airport, in the metropolitan area of ​​São Paulo, official sources reported.

The stolen cargo is valued at just over $ 30 million, according to civilian police sources.

How the robbery took place

The robbery was committed Thursday afternoon when the group of suspects, equipped with badault rifles, wearing the clothes and insignia of the federal police, arrived in two vehicles in a warehouse at the airport. Guarulhos airport, one of the largest in Latin America. .

The criminals then announced that it was a robbery, seized the gold, stored in an armored vehicle containing values ​​and fled, holding two people hostage, including one was the terminal logistics manager, according to the authorities.

Subsequently, they abandoned the two vehicles, also marked by the federal police, at another location in the area, about 12 kilometers from the airport. There, they released the hostages.

The logistics manager said the thieves – before the badault – had taken his family hostage the day before and had told him that he would only be released the next day, that is, say next Thursday.

After the robbery, the thieves won the gold medal in a white Chevrolet S10 truck and in an ambulance.

The operation of the airport has not been affected and is functioning normally.
