He checked the freezer of his dead mother and found the body of a child: now they are investigating him

Authorities in St. Louis, Missouri, are investigating a man who allegedly found the body of a baby in a refrigerator while cleaning his mother's apartment after his death.

Adam Smith told the newspaper St. Louis Post-Dispatch That he discovered the remains on Sunday by opening a box that his mother had in the freezer-refrigerator for decades and that he took with him whenever he moved.

He explained that he was checking the affairs of his mother, who died on July 21 at 68 years of lung cancer.

The police only said Monday in a statement that the baby had been found inside a house and that they were investigating the deaths as "suspects" while they were performing an autopsy. The police refused to comment further.

Smith said he gave the authorities a sample of his DNA.
