According to the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), a group of armed people made Tuesday a raid on a branch of the Mint in Mexico, without giving more details.
According to information collected by the local newspaper 'La Jornada', the thieves allegedly fled with the equivalent of 55 million pesos (about $ 2.8 million), although for the time being it there is no official confirmation.
The local Attorney General's office has opened an investigation, while police sources said six people reportedly took part in the attack, according to the Mexican newspaper "El Universal".
According to this newspaper, a person was shot dead around the building, without knowing for the moment whether the two events were related.
