Traffic lights off, dark subways, planes blocked on the ground: a mbadive blackout has affected much of the UK this Friday: London, the south-east of England and Wales ran out of light due to a technical failure involving two of the major generators of the country, according to the newspaper The Guardian.

A spokeswoman for Northern Powergrid, which serves Yorkshire and the north-east of the country, said that 110,000 of its customers were without electricity, while Electricity, northwest, had said that at least 26,000 people had no service in the north-west of the country.

The cuts also touched the train and subway lines and some secondary airports such as Newcastle.
