FAA Prohibits Travel with Certain MacBook Pro Models

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has released a resolution that prevents certain models of MacBook Pro from getting on the plane with battery problems and fire hazards. This is something that was reported by Apple last June, which has launched a program of equipment replacement.

In this 15-inch MacBook Pro, sold between September 2015 and February 2017, the batteries may overheat and ignite, the FAA has banned transportation (in the cabin or shipped).as Bloomberg reports.

However, the FAA has confirmed that the ban (such as the one that reached at the time the Samsung Galaxy Note 7) is identical to that which, strictly speaking, reaches any device with batteries being part of 39, a program of spare parts. In fact, if the battery of the MacBook Pro has already been replaced, the theft is not limited.

The announcement by the FAA came after the European Aviation Safety Agency issued a similar alert earlier this month, reminding airlines that these types of aircraft that were part of a replacement program initiated by the manufacturer had to leave if the battery is the original.

But to determine if this was the case and if it is part of the whole of the units concerned, it is complex. And as with the Galaxy Note 7, it depends more on the goodwill of the pbadengers than a strict control that the airlines will put in place in the United States or Europe.
