Finance Minister Hernán Lacunza today met with Central Bank President Guido Sandleris to badyze the progress of monetary and exchange rate policy before the arrival of a new IMF mission. International (IMF), as well as his predecessor, Nicolás Dujovne, with whom he discussed the transition from one post to the other, said official sources.

Lacunza began his activities early at his home in the city of Tigre, Buenos Aires, where he had lunch with Damián Bonari, who replaces him in the province of Buenos Aires, as well as his advisers Sebastián Katz, Milagros Gismondi and Pedro Rabasa, among others.

In the afternoon, Sandleris received Sandleris de Lacunza, with whom he badyzed the progress of monetary and exchange rate policy before the arrival of a new IMF mission to audit the national accounts to allow the disbursement of 5.4 billion US dollars.

The next IMF mission is expected to arrive in Buenos Aires in the next 15 days to verify compliance with the fiscal and monetary targets set in the second quarter, which have been somewhat relaxed.

The focus will be on the government's ability to achieve the balanced budget goal for this year, or a deficit of less than one point of GDP, after the announced measures that imply a postponement payment of various taxes, or Reduction of profits.

The next disbursement, in the order of US $ 5.4 billion, is expected in mid-September and will help improve the financial situation in the middle of the October elections.

This is the last major disbursement planned by the IMF under the agreement reached last September for an amount of 54 000 million US dollars, which has made it possible to refinance the Argentine debt.

Then, they should arrive at a rate of 1 billion US dollars per quarter until mid-2021.

Lacunza and Sandleris maintain good personal relations as they work together in the province of Buenos Aires at the beginning of the management of the governor María Eugenia Vidal, indicated the same sources.
