Video: A Spanish air force plane crashed into the sea

A Spanish air force plane crashed into the sea in front of a beach in the south of the country, but the pilot could be ejected, the Defense Ministry reported.

Rescue vessels are looking for the pilot, the ministry said in a statement.

The Spanish C-101 aircraft was in training flight when the incident occurred around 9:40 am (07:40 GMT) Monday, the ministry said.

Spanish television showed images of the plane plummeting in front of the sea, a short distance from the beach of Manga de Mar Menor.

Emergency agencies reported receiving a large number of calls about the event and said they sent search boats to the site.
