A delegation of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will arrive this week in the country, forty years after the historic visit that the organization made in September 1979 to collect information and complain about the 39, kidnapping and torture, and which confirmed the crimes committed by the last dictatorship.
The delegation, which will remain between Thursday and Friday in Buenos Aires, will be composed of the current president of the IACHR, Esmeralda Arosemena; the first vice-president, Joel Hernández; Commissioner Antonia Urrejola; Executive Secretary Paulo Abrão; Constanza Argentieri, promotion coordinator, and Erick Mendoca, secretary general specialist.
According to Telam sources of the IACHR, the visit would be formal and would have for main reason the commemoration of the 60 years of the commission and the 40 years of the visit in the country during the dictatorship; In other words, in this case, there will be no monitoring of the human rights situation.
