US Supreme Court gives green light to Trump veto at Central American asylum | Chronic

The United States Supreme Court has authorized the Government of Donald Trump refuse asylum to immigrants, mainly Central Americans, who have crossed Mexico or other countries without having sought refuge at a US diplomatic headquarters located in these third countries.

The highest court of the country explained in a judgment posted on its website that it was canceling the ban that had been lifted by a lower court and that it was blocking up to the present time implementation of this immigration policy.

The Trump administration has decided this year to redefine the right of political asylum and limit it to foreigners who claim it and obtain it while they are in their country or in a safe third territory, a definition that Washington negotiates with its neighbors bilaterally, for example, with Mexico and Guatemala.

This means that no immigrant who has entered the United States illegally or who has stayed longer than his visa can apply for political asylum.

The only two exceptions for seeking asylum in the United States are: it is established that a third country has denied him asylum or is a victim of a "important " human trafficking network

Civil society organizations and human rights activists in the United States denounced this new immigration policy and claimed that it violated the commitments made by that state in international treaties.
