Enraged members of an indigenous community in southern Mexico stormed a municipality and captured the mayor, who was handcuffed and dragged several meters with a van to demand that he hold his campaign promises.

The incident happened on Tuesday Las Margaritas, city of about 20,000 inhabitants in the state of Chiapas, when half a hundred of the community's indigenous farmers tojolabal, who live in a rural area of ​​the municipality, arrived at the mayor's headquarters, armed with clubs.

Municipal employees and police came to defend Escandón. They organized a battle in front of the seat of the municipality, during which clubs and all kinds of blunt objects were used. The gresca, after which the mayor was released, left a dozen wounded and eleven arrested, but this is not the first time that something of this magnitude has occurred in this locality, because last year, the inhabitants of Santa Rita El Invernadero vandalized the municipality, asking the mayor to respect his electoral promises.
