Coronavirus: Argentina overtook Brazil and Chile in deaths per million inhabitants

Argentina topped Brazil and Chile on Saturday in the number of coronavirus deaths per million population, official data showed.

According to the Worldometer portal, which compiles the data provided by each administration, Argentina records 35,307 deaths from Covid-19 with a population of 45,350,087, which gives a rate of 779 deaths per million inhabitants.

With these figures, the country ranks 6th in the world, behind San Marino (1,237), Belgium (1,215), Peru (1,061), Andorra (970) and Spain (872).

The Our World in Data site, on the other hand, does not consider the micro-states of San Marino and Andorra on its list (they have 42 and 75 deaths respectively) and places Argentina in 4th place.

During the day, Brazil recorded 921 deaths and 38,307 new infections. With these figures, in deaths per million inhabitants, behind Argentina now appear Brazil (777), Chile (771), the United Kingdom (761), Mexico (759) and the United States (757). ).

In terms of the number of tests, Argentina is ranked 113 in the world, with a rate of 70,081 tests per million people. Chile appears in 50th place (249,350) and Brazil in 100th (102,758).
