Woman miraculously saved after being pushed onto metro tracks from New York, United States, moments before a train arrived.
According to images captured by a security camera, the victim was waiting at Union Square Station at 8:30 a.m. last Thursday, when a stranger standing behind threw her on the rails.
“It’s very disturbing. We see him waiting, calculating that the train would approach the station and at the appropriate time, he pushed the victim onto the tracks,” says NYPD traffic chief Captain Kathleen o’reilly, during a press conference.
Wife, Liliana llanos (40), suffered minor injuries, mainly in the head, and survived because it fell directly into the U-shaped space between the rails of the track, designed to protect people in these cases. She was taken to the hospital and later released to complete her recovery at home.
The responsible person has been identified as Aditya Vemulapat, a homeless man of about 24 years old, and was arrested almost immediately by a policeman from the station where the events occurred. Faces currently attempted murder charges, among others.
Vemulapati, who has only been in New York for a few months, has a arrest story in Illinois, Missouri and Florida, which include violations of protection orders and failure to appear in court, according to city prosecutors.
