Pending the approval of the various vaccines developed to fight against coronavirusFrom a scientific point of view, work is being carried out on various advances to prevent its spread. This is the case of Transparent chinstrap social mask, which can detect asymptomatic patients with covid-19.
The initiative created by the Romanian engineer Burzo Ciprian, which is still under development, offers a smart mask capable of identifying airborne pathogens using specialized algorithms and biosensors.
Additionally, Ciprian explained that despite being equipped with sensors and algorithms, the mask is easy to make and can be made by 3D printing through environmentally friendly filaments or by casting in special molds.
The Social Mask has a modular device on its front that integrates the mask’s biosensors, its Bluetooth capability and a ventilator for breathing. It also has a ventilation system with filters, a temperature sensor and a screen that tells us the temperature in the room where we are.
As explained by its creator, the algorithm integrated into the application, connected to the mask via Bluetooth, collects all this data, by performing a percentage of possible coronavirus infection. All users will appear on a map so that the user does not have to navigate any danger areas.
If the chin strap detects that a person is asymptomatic, it will send all of this information to the mobile device so that it can send it to the appropriate authorities, as do applications such as the Covid-19 radar.
People with allergies are also taken into account, as different types of materials such as polycarbonate and polypropylene will be used.
