A real boon for those looking for new opportunities, but like everything, there are certain requirements. Among other things, future residents must commit to renovate the property within three years of purchase and leave a deposit of 2000 euros, which will be returned to you when the work is completed. According to the mayor, the houses could be renovated for less than 50,000 euros.

In addition, potential buyers are encouraged to send a letter to the city council in which they indicate what the reasons want to move to town, as well as a list of their projects and needs looking to the future, to find the best home for them.

“I don’t want my city to be taken over by a rush of urban speculation,” the mayor said in a statement to CNN. “Our plan works in such a way that we can move two projects at the same time: on the one hand, search for new buyers potential, and on the other hand, contact with former residents who wish to return.
