Mick Burke, was he a lucky guy? Some believe him, others that his personality prevented him from accomplishing his mission. The 97-year-old farmer, a resident of the Irish town of Borrisoleigh (Tipperary), died on November 30 and was famous because despite his efforts to find a girlfriend, he could not do so.

Burke religiously attended a dating festival for 73 years in the town of Lisdoonvarna. His goal was to find the woman of his life, according to the organizing entity in his Facebook account.

It was in 1946 that the man came to the festival for the first time. Since then, the farmer has constantly insisted on finding a soul mate, until he began to have health problems. Even he believed that his bad luck at not finding a mate was due to the remote location of his farm. However, according to media reports, the man managed to form relationships and return home with “a lot of phone numbers”, although none of them got married.

“He never married, the problem was he was too good-looking, all the girls loved him and it wasn’t easy to pick one and leave the rest,” says Willie Daly, the festival matchmaker, who added that the lightweight was not a Burke Quality.

Meanwhile, the Lisdoonvarna Dating Festival has been suspended this year due to the pandemic.
