Covid-19: Woman suffered severe allergic reaction and was hospitalized

UNITED STATES – A health worker had a severe allergic reaction after receiving the covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer Inc. The New York Times and The Washington Post newspapers reported that the allergic reaction occurred on Tuesday. The woman had to be hospitalized, where she is already stable.

According to a hospital official quoted by the New York Times, the middle-aged woman had no history of allergies, but had an anaphylactic reaction that began 10 minutes after receiving the vaccine at Bartlett Regional Hospital of Juneau, Alaska. The reaction included redness of the skin and shortness of breath.

Dr Lindy Jones, medical director of the hospital’s emergency department, said the reaction subsided shortly after the worker was treated with epinephrine. The newspaper Infobae.com recalled that volunteers in the Pfizer clinical trial of 44,000 people were excluded if they had a history of allergic reactions to vaccines.
