Pfizer limits delivery times in Europe for its coronavirus vaccines

US company Pfizer, associated with Germany’s BioNTech, today announced a plan to cut the delivery time for coronavirus vaccines to one week after Europe criticized it for delaying shipments between three and four weeks.

“Pfizer and BioNTech have developed a plan to increase manufacturing capacity in Europe and deliver significantly more doses in the second quarter,” the two companies said in a joint statement.

“We will revert to the original schedule for deliveries in the European Union from the week of January 25, with an increase in deliveries from the week of February 15,” the note said, AFP news agency reported.

The statement added that in order to meet these deadlines, it will be necessary to “modify” production processes.

On Friday, Pfizer announced that due to work at a vaccine production plant in Belgium, it is expected to delay deliveries to Europe until late January or early February.

For their part, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Sweden protested with a joint letter in which they declared that the situation was “unacceptable” and that it “weakened the credibility of the process. vaccination”.
