Myanmar coup: what’s happening and why

The army seized power in Myanmar in the early hours of Monday and declared a state of emergency for a year, after accusing leader Aung San Suu Kyi’s party of fraud in its recent electoral victory, which did not has not been reported.

Since then, international voices have grown to call for the release of Suu Kyi and other politicians who won last November’s election and are now under arrest.
