As stated, the tragedy occurred in Township of Gaines, Michigan in the backyard of a house while having a baby shower.

The device threw shards that reached Evan Thomas Silva, 26, who was immediately transferred to a hospital in the area, but he died shortly after from gunshot wounds.

Three cars and the parking lot of the house were also hit by shrapnel.

The shooter had bought the barrel at auction and had already been fired several times before the explosion which ended in tragedy.

As reported by Michigan Police, they suspect that the powder placed in the apparatus caused the fracture of the barrel.

This is not the first time that such an accident has occurred with one of these devices during an event to reveal the sex of the baby.
