The dogs of blue color surprised all residents of the Russian city of Dzerzhinsk. Acrylic glass and hydrocyanic acid were produced in the area, so it is speculated that the animals could be colored with the chemicals used to make these items.

As one of the factory managers in the area explains, because there are many abandoned buildings, it is believed that the dogs entered a factory and were dyed blue. The factory manager said copper sulfate from the production of glass could have caused the dogs’ unusual fur color.

Meanwhile, authorities in the region are negotiating with factory officials to enter and save the animals, according to Russian news agency RT. In addition, animal welfare associations have indicated that in principle there would be no risk to the health of dogs.
