Filmstrip: Rosario’s boqueteros took 45 million pesos

ROSARIO. Rosario District Attorney’s Office estimated the booty of the Brinks Flow blow to be 45 million pesos, a fortune that the thieves took without firing a single shot, after making a hole in one of the walls of a neighboring house, where they detained a family who lives there, to access the depot where they have been taken away with money.

This Wednesday, the Rosario prosecutor’s office revealed that, according to the accounts carried out by the company Brinks flow, the amount withdrawn would be around 45 million pesos. According to judicial sources consulted by THE NATION, the attackers took between 20 and 25 bags of cash from the company’s warehouse located in Presidente Roca at 2769, in the center of town.

According to the investigation, the theft took place at 9:30 p.m. on Monday. Between five and seven thieves participated, who made an 80-centimeter hole in one of the walls of a nearby house to access the company’s depot and collect the bags with cash.

The family that was taken hostage did not suffer any attacks or violence from the thieves, as explained by one of the victims, who had left a huge hole in one of the walls of his residence. “They did some intelligence work on us; we see that they knew the movement of my house, because they were surprised by the presence of my daughter and my grandson, ”said Guillermo Algañaraz, 62, owner of the house.

On the night of the robbery, this man, who lives in the house with his brother, received a visit from his daughter and grandson. “The door was open because I was expecting my daughter, who came to visit us with the baby. You can see they knew the place and had done some intelligence work before, ”said the man, a retired teacher. He explained that behind his daughter “criminals entered” and added that the attackers “were surprised when they saw” his grandson, aware that one of them asked: “Why so many people?”

According to investigators, two men tied up the four people, locked them in a room and kept a “guard” on the hostages. Another group he began to punch holes in the adjacent wall, which overlooks the Brinks warehouse. They worked with their own tools and they also took some that were in the house, Algarañaz explained.

Spokesmen for the case said the Brinks company has its own security staff, although they apparently weren’t there for the long vacations. Also, that a neighbor noticed the noises on Monday night, so, shouting, she asked her neighbor if something was going on. Algarañaz said one of the thieves asked him to answer that they were fixing a pipe, while the rest of the gang finished opening the hole in the wall.

The odd thing about the case is that the flux company did not have security personnel active at the time of the theft and an alarm system with the sophistication that a place where so much money is collected deserves.

Researchers believe that the thieves escaped from the back of the residence of the conserved family, which overlooks some railways. “They left us tied up; After they left, we stayed for more than half an hour until we could be free, ”said the retired teacher, adding that they also brought their phones, in order to isolate them. Finally, Algarañaz managed to leave his house with his hands tied behind his back and enlisted the help of a taxi driver, who notified the police.

The case, which initially fell to the Flagrancy Prosecutor’s Unit, was referred to the Investigations and Trials Unit. Prosecutor Juliana González was in charge of monitoring footage from security cameras on the streets of the neighborhood.
