The first cases of side effects from the covid-19 vaccine were recorded in Bogotá

It should be remembered that, according to what has been said many times by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz, the main side effects of the American pharmaceutical vaccine are pain, swelling and redness in the area of ​​application, in which one of the cases reported by Clinic Colombia is covered; and fatigue, a feeling of fatigue and pain in the joints and headaches in the rest of the body.

Regarding the other effects mentioned, he also mentioned during a program of the program “Prevention and action” of the national government, in which he assured that he “Allergic reactions, which occur in very limited and rare cases with these products”, and that it is precisely because of the latter that all the vaccination points in the country have a space to “present themselves and act in the event of an allergic reaction, which, as we have said, is very rare “.

In this sense, the official added during the same intervention, that in Colombia, they are working on several mechanisms, including one for registration and monitoring, with which the vaccinated can return to health centers, even days later, receive a consultation and confirm if they have any side effects after the vaccine is administered. The resulting report of these cases, he said, is being handed over to the World Health Organization, WHO, to keep all authorities apprised of possible developments.

The facts are presented on the first day of vaccination in the Colombian capital, which began this Thursday at 7:00 am, precisely at Clinic Colombia and at Kennedy Hospital.

Before 5 a.m., the mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, reported from the unified command post of the Ministry of Health, where he assured that the capital already has all the protocols, logistics and clothes to start the vaccination against SARS-CoV-2.

“We will coordinate at the nine sites. This is very important because we have to measure the times and the movements, today it is a process that starts with a pilot, we have started to distribute 12,582 vaccines, but over time it will become a massive process of distribution of hundreds of thousands of vaccines to make a mass vaccination in our population ”, expressed the president of Bogota.

The clinics, hospitals and medical centers in Bogota included in the first list to start vaccination were: National Police Hospital, National Cancer Institute, Kennedy Hospital, Simón Bolívar Hospital, Santa Clara Hospital, Santa Fe Foundation in Bogotá, Colombia Clinic, Military Hospital and Méderi hospital.

Around 7:00 am this Thursday, Nurse Claudia Benavides from the Colombia Clinic received the first vaccine against covid-19 in Bogotá. The first doses were to be applied at Kennedy Hospital, however, there was a change in schedule and, without the presence of members of the district and national governments, the process of vaccination against the coronavirus began.

“My nerves have already calmed down, I feel good, lucky and blessed to be the first and I hope it will be the best for everyone. The directors of this institution announced that it has the capacity to vaccinate 72 people per hour, with which around noon they had already managed to apply a total of 384 doses.

This hospital center, located southwest of Bogotá, has already vaccinated the first health professionals. Kennedy Hospital, who was the second to start immunizing health workers, has 1,412 doses and, Along with other hospitals in the capital, they launched the district’s coronavirus vaccination plan.

The event at Kennedy Hospital was not attended by the Mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, but he practically congratulated the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Fernando Ruiz Gómez, who was present in the second medical center that vaccinated Colombians, together with Deputy Minister Marta Lucía Ramírez.

Minister Ruiz assured that he was excited, not only to vaccinate the citizens of Bogota, but also because at Kennedy Hospital, Gómez completed his rural year in medicine while preparing to become a doctor.

Although Mayor López did not attend the vaccination events, in his social networks, he assured that from the start, he monitors the different vaccination processes against the new coronavirus that the Colombian capital advances from this Thursday, February 18.

The Vice-President of Colombia, Marta Lucía Ramírez, excused the President of Bogotá and admitted that she was aware of the entire vaccination process in Bogotá. In addition, he called on Colombians to highlight the work that the country’s leaders are doing to promote public health.

Representing the male medical union, Dr Andrés Almanzar Salazar will be another of the lucky ones to receive the first biological against the novel coronavirus. Dr Almanzar specializes in internal medicine and teaches university courses in medicine; In addition, he is the coordinating physician of internal medicine and COVID UCIS of the southwest subnet.

For his part, the Secretary of Health of Bogotá, Alejandro Gómez, assured that the various hospitals in which the aforementioned health professionals will be vaccinated have everything necessary for the vaccination to be successful.

“Throughout the day and in the nine hospitals that the mayor mentioned that she was going to start vaccinating at 7 am, we have teams from the Secretariat to accompany the clinics, all are experts and before that we spent reviewing not only infrastructure and equipment, but also human talent, ”said Gómez.
