Thalia Tetecatl he takes a responsibility which does not correspond to him but he does it for the love of life and animals. This Young veterinarian has been saving orphaned kittens for several years, either by the death of the mother, or more commonly, because they are abandoned in the street.

It was on January 4th of this new year that I left my house after several weeks of not having done so due to the pandemic, I took a path where I usually never travel. I heard constant desperate meows in the distance, There were three abandoned baby cats, their small size and umbilical cord proving they were only about two days old. They were in a little dirty cardboard box on the street, about two meters away was another dead baby, we saw that it had come out of the box and that it was perhaps frozen to death.

I took the box not knowing exactly what to do, but I wasn’t going to leave them alone and it was a matter of time before one of the hundreds of stray dogs arrived, also ditched from the streets and ate them. Someone threw them away like garbage, to die.

I took them to four vets from the surrounding colonies, none of them wanted them Or they even told me what to do, I asked if there were any pacifiers and that’s when they sold me one, one more told me that they needed special milk, but none of them sold it.

After putting them in the sun they lay still for a while it was a freezing morning and I was surprised that they stayed together, thanks to that they kept enough heat to be well. It was very early when I found them and they were cold so I guess they were thrown early in the morning or at night.

Thanks to the dedicated care of this young veterinarian, the three little ones have grown up healthy and are already in the process of adoption Videos: (@esc_michis)

Through social media, I started posting help finding a mother-cat substitute it was up to him to adopt them temporarily, since they did not want to eat from the bottle he had bought them.

I have two cats, a mother and a daughter and both are sterilized. Naively, I thought that since the big one had been a great mother with her litter only, maybe she would take care of the babies sometimes, but, she sniffed them and immediately threw them away.

I thought that it would be difficult if she found another lactating cat and it would be even more difficult for her to accept them as her own, but then one of the messages paid off, the Animals CDMX Facebook page channeled me to herIt was when I met Thalía Tetecatl.

I took them close to her home and from that day on, with no but no conditions, she took over immediately. She sent me pictures of the evolution of the children, she gave them a second chance in life.

Thalía Tetecatl is 23 years old, lives in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli, in the state of Mexico, graduated from Universidad del Valle de México and is about to graduate as a veterinarian, but already has many years of experience.

The young woman had kittens when she was a child, a pregnant cat came to her at the age of five. Later and for three years, he saved his current calico-type cat.

During this same period he began to specialize in newborns, he searched the internet for the care of baby cats but at that time there was not a lot of information in the country, so The idea of creating this information from a medical point of view came to him since he was studying veterinary medicine.

Then created the Michis School Twitter account (@esc_michis) and the channel from youtube where does he post tips for caring for newborns, how they should be fed, washed, the right food according to their stage of development, and the great stories and evolution of the kittens he saves.

While most are photos and videos of his antics, there are other cases as well. like Pixie who has a skin condition, who is already being treated or one of the most painful like that of Lynx. A baby who arrived in very poor health, possibly poisoned, but despite the serum and all the care, his body was already badly treated and he died.

Pixie was saved by her boyfriend and from Tamaulipas she brought him to the state of Mexico, he was badly treated but resisted a few weeks, Thalía gave him serum and managed to make him eat alone, even sometimes the little one played happily with her, unfortunately he did not survive

On the Internet, Internet users generally recognize their excellent work, but there are haters who Sometimes they criticize her without knowing that behind every little one saved are thousands of hours of care sacrificing her time, the money she donates from her purse, or the many sleepless nights. when they’re newborns and need to eat every three hours, even if they get worse and he takes them to emergency vets, even though it’s three in the morning.

Thalía explains that There are many factors for the abandonment of companion animals, the lack of economic resources but even more the lack of education in respect of living things.

“Most of the cases where you abandon these animals are in areas of social marginalization, but I found more lack of culture and education. We were also not taught to respect animals at school and at home.»She explains and adds that she was invited to schools to educate primary school children. “It should be a compulsory subject,” he reflects.

In addition to abandonment, Another problem is animal abuse, they are used in rituals (mostly blacks and whites) where they mutilate and murder them, and in the worst case, they feed them dogs to train them for fighting: “There is a lot of animal abuse but few people reporting“.

While in the state of Mexico You can report the abuse to the Office of the Attorney General for Environmental Protection of the State of Mexico (Propaem). They have a telephone line from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.: (722) 213 5456, ext. 105.

The young veterinarian explains that the annual vaccination and sterilization programs (usually in January) cannot cope with the large number of animals that there are, which is why more help from organizations is needed.

Because newborn babies take a long time, when Thalía has several in her care, she can no longer accept homeless babies, so she urges them to more animal activists to create a support network, there are even those who temporarily house kittens or adult cats in their homes when they find a permanent home, like the case where he helped propagate an elderly cat that was going to be euthanized.
