Venezuela’s Comptroller General disabled opposition leader Juan Guaidó and 27 other former parliamentarians on Tuesday to hold public office for 15 years, after refusing to present an affidavit of assets after leaving office as legislator.

Venezuelan controller Elvis Amoroso said in a speech broadcast by public television VTV that Guaidó and the 27 other disabled people, many of whom were collaborators of the opponent, “Something they have to hide” by refusing to submit the Affidavit of Assets.

“We know that these characters are involved in acts of corruption, they seized the money of all Venezuelans “added the head of the regime without giving details.

“It’s timely remind the Venezuelan people that the heritage affidavit is a moralizing instrument, which constitutes a preventive control mechanism in the fight against corruption and the monitoring of the behavior of officials, ”Amoroso continued.

Guaidó, who several countries recognize as interim president of Venezuela, did not react immediately to the news, but it is believed that he will reject it, since the opposition leader assures that maintains his post as a Member of Parliament which, according to the Constitution, expired on January 5 when a new Parliament was installed, who controls Chavismo with an overwhelming majority.

Guaidó and other former deputies meet under a body called delegated commission, a figure they launched in December adopted to extend the term, he was then head of parliament.

The leader decided to use this instance as a means of validating their decisions, after having considered that the legislative elections that took place last December lacked democratic standards, so his coalition did not participate.

The Commission, a figure that the Parliament activates when it is on vacation, is recognized by some countries such as the United States or Colombia.

Among the disabled are the former deputy Julio Borges, who is Guaidó’s commissioner for external relations, or Sergio Vergara, who was the right hand of the Leader of the Opposition.
