Coronavirus in Mexico on February 27: 783 people died in one day

Christian Arturo Zaragoza Jiménez, director of epidemiological information, reported that on February 27, they already add 185,257 deaths confirmed in Mexico due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In other words, in the past 24 hours, there have been 783 deaths.

– Puebla (51%)

Currently, no entity has more than 70% occupancy and 30 states report less than 50% occupancy. That is to say, Of the 32,186 beds in total, 22,533 are available and 9,653 are inhabited.

For his part, José Luis Alomía, director general of epidemiology, reported that on February 27, 73,242 vaccines were applied, or 2,383,411 cumulative doses. Of this total, 751,178 were first doses intended for health workers. In addition, 565,377 are second doses, which means they completed 75% of such vaccines.

He reported that 100% of the first doses of educational staff in Campeche (17,463) were applied. Likewise, 1,049,393 antigens have been injected into older adults, but none have the full immunization schedule.

On another side, 1833 (0.08%) were lost doses that reached Mexico. These losses are also taken into account by the vaccination schedule, because before the pandemic this phenomenon was recorded due to complications related to their transfer.

A total of 9,459 people with reactions after vaccination have also been notified to date, including 55 severe cases and the others outpatients. Most of them concerned the Pfizer-BioNTech antigen.

In addition, this Saturday at 5:20 a.m., the Mexican government received the second shipment of COVID-19 vaccine produced by the pharmaceutical company. Sinovac Life Sciences Co., Ltd., with a total of 800 thousand doses.

According to the reception schedule, a total of 10 million doses are expected to be received from the Sinovac laboratory. Mexico has received a total of 12 shipments – 17 flights – with vaccines from four different pharmaceutical companies as of Saturday.
