In a week, there are already two women who have denounced the governor of New York for sexual harassment

The former health advisor Charlotte Bennett, 25 years old, asserted The New York Times that the governor sexually harassed in the spring of 2020. Bennett said Cuomo, 63, commented to her in early June about being open to having sex in his 20s, asking her what she thought of such a difference in age.

Although Cuomo never tried to touch her, Bennett recounted Times: “I understood that the governor wanted to sleep with me, and I felt terribly uncomfortable and scared.” The woman added that she discussed the matter with the chief of staff and with a legal adviser to the governor, who changed her post and moved her to another building. The new position suited him well, so he decided not to go any further.

In a statement released on Saturday evening, Cuomo assured “never to have made advances to Bennett nor to have never intended to act inappropriately”. However, she said she wanted to help the former health counselor, who confessed to having been sexually assaulted before.

The governor, whose third term expires at the end of 2022, called for “a full review of the allegations,” led by a former federal judge. He added: “I ask New Yorkers to wait for the results … before any trial.”

This is the second time in a week that the Democratic governor, who has ruled New York for ten years, has been accused of sexual harassment: Wednesday, another former adviser, Lindsey Boylan, She claimed in a blog that Cuomo harassed her while working for his administration, between 2015 and 2018.

Now running for the Manhattan Borough, Boylan, 36, claimed the governor forcibly kissed her on the mouth, suggested she participate in a game of strip poker and “he increased his efforts to touch her back, arms and legs.” A spokeswoman for the governor called the accusations “false”.
