Terror in the Mexican Caribbean: this is how the CJNG intimidates the local press

Attacks on journalists in the Caribbean by the organized crime forced them to censor themselves. Months ago, communicators reported pressures, intrigues and threats Jalisco Next Generation Cartel (CJNG) which seeks to impose its propaganda in various media.

Journalists call on the Mexican government to step up the fight against corruption and organized crime in order to guarantee freedom of expression. They also called for increased financial resources to strengthen mechanisms to protect communicators.

In recent months, the state of Quintana roo, in the Mexican Caribbean, It has gone from being famous for its tourist offer to that of the new drug corridor in the country.

Mexico is the most dangerous country in Latin America for practicing journalism. An article 19 report has documented 137 murders of communicators from 2000 to date. Of this total, 126 are men and 11 are women.
