Indeed, the AMLO project will not only have the responsibility of positively influencing the Tourism industry from the Mayan zone of Mexico; but will also help transport of raw materials for the southeastern region of Mexico, which will have an impact on other Industries; finally, it will promote optimization in the interstate mobility for the inhabitants of the poorest region of the republic.

In a speech he gave on the tour, the National President said it would be “A resounding failure” finish this work after the end of the six-year mandate, this because the political scientist of UNAM reiterated that as soon as 2024 he will retire from politics and that the projects he initiated during his campaign should be completed before that happens.

We are very happy with this work, concerned, but fundamentally charged, time-conscious, because we have to do it in a short time, all the infrastructure, the railway, the stations, acquire the trains, start the operation of the Mayan train, all this, as I mentioned, before 2024. I think the date that we have to keep in mind is to conclude everything by the end of 2023 in order to start with the testing and operation of the train in 2024, ”he told Maxcanú, at the Yucatán.

For the construction of the structure, the federal government had elements of the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) and established concessions so that private initiative can participate. In this way, military engineers and civil engineers established a construction system that has always worked with the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico; however, the Mayan train has construction delays.

“Of course there are still delays in all sections due to different circumstances, bad weather, pandemic, limitations that have to do with respect for the environment, with respect for archaeological monuments, but we must move forward, “admitted.

In this sense, AMLO said that it was aware of the delays that the project could suffer, since it had thought that the construction should be delivered by 2023 at the latest and that it will start working in 2024, an estimated period which has also been confirmed. . by Rogelio Jimenez Pons, owner of National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur).

In this regard, it should be noted that there are three other constructs that are being worked on at the wrong time: Felipe Angeles International Airport in Saint Lucia, the refinery from Petróleos Mexicanos to Dos Bocas and the tren Transítsmico which will connect the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean through the narrowest part of Mexico.
