Agents from the Citizen’s Security Secretariat (SSC) went to the scene to cordon off the area while experts from the attorney general’s office in the capital began the first investigations.

Mexico City’s Attorney General’s Office reported that in 2020, the incidence in daily averages of rape, sexual harassment and domestic violence crimes increased compared to 2019, while crimes such as femicide, intentional homicide and sexual abuse have declined.

Rape investigation files increased from 1,316 in 2019 to 1,350 in 2020, an increase of 2.6%. While cases of sexual harassment rose from 884 to 1,002, an increase of 13.3%. Domestic violence cases increased from 20,262 to 21,348, or 5.4 percent.
