National police respond to ‘Jesús Santrich’ and confirm threats against two journalists

The Colombian police director, General Jorge Luis Vargas, confirmed on Tuesday the threats made by the commander of the residual group “Segunda Marquetalia”, “Jesús Santrich”, against President Iván Duque and journalists Claudia Gurisatti and Vicky Dávila.

The director of the institution indicated that during the last hours, several videos were known in which appears the former commander of the FARC, Seuxis Pausias, reiterating their threats against the president and, this time, against the directors of the national media magazine Semana and NTN24.

“There are already two criminal reports with the prosecution and the Dijin as part of an investigative process which should lead to prosecution of this criminal and other members of his drug trafficking structure.”General Jorge Luis Vargas assured.

Likewise, he pointed out that during this year 176 profiles on social networks were deleted at the request of the national police, of which 59 belong to FARC dissidents, including four to Iván Márquez and three to Jesús Santrich.

In turn, he claimed that during the morning hours, the commander of the “Second Marquetalia” issued a message through an account on the social network Telegram which was being intervened.

“After the cyber patrol activities were carried out on the publications of February 14 and 23 and this morning, the Cyber ​​Center of the National Police kept the digital evidence,” General Jorge Luis Vargas said.

Among these are the URLs of the videos, the content analysis and the chain of custody, which were sent to the crime group against public insecurity and terrorism in Dijín, with which the corresponding investigations were opened and the accounts of the residual group were blocked.

Likewise, the institution’s commander explained that, the corresponding security measures have been adopted with the intention of guaranteeing the life and integrity of journalists threatened by “Jesús Santrich”.

“The President’s instructions to the National Police are clear, with the Office of the Prosecutor and the Military Forces, we are articulated to bring these criminals to justice in accordance with national and international mandates.”concludes the general.

For her part, the director of Semana thanked the Colombian authorities for their support and gave a hug to her colleague Claudia Gurisatti.
