TUE DEL PLATA.- Several fire sources – presumed intentional – opened at the southern end of Cariló, in an area of forest reserve where firefighters from the Pinamar district and the region have been working since last night to try to stop the advancing flames.

The affected area is located between a new real estate development area, the private Constancia district, towards the border with Villa Gesell, an area of very lush vegetation.

The work is intense and difficult to manage in an area difficult to access for firefighters’ support vehicles, which continued to receive reinforcements from the area.

“At the moment, a fire is developing with 5 sources in Cariló. There are 70 firefighters working on foot, a firebreak has already been installed and supplies are provided to all staff. Joint work with the firefighters of the region, the police and the municipal urban guard ”, explained the mayor of PInamar, Martín Yeza, of social networks.

With mechanical shovels, the objective was to open paths to allow access for four-wheel drive vehicles with which firefighters must be able to approach a direct water supply, since until now the entrance is only possible on foot, so the firefighters work with individual backpacks.

“It was clearly intentional,” Yeza told LA NACION, based on data provided by fire officials who identified five sources of fire that were very distant from each other. Regarding the dynamics of the accident, he warned that the concern has to do with the turn that the wind can have, since during the morning and until these early hours of the afternoon it blew towards the sea, which put a limit to the flames. “If that changes, let it be a possibility, it can get complicated,” he said.

Neighbors in the area quickly approached to collaborate and brought drinking water and supplies to supply the security team which is multiplying on the spot. The area affected by the fire has no homes nearby, nor any other property at risk.
