The economist and tax expert Juan Carlos “Bebe” Gómez Sabaini, husband of the artist Marta Minujín, passed away this Thursday, March 11. His family and colleagues fired him on social media.

After graduating as a chartered accountant from the Faculty of Economics of University of Buenos Aires, studied for a doctorate in economics at Columbia University (New York).

“Juan Carlos” Bebe “Gómez Sabaini, my father-in-law, passed away today, besides being a well-known economist with a public vocation, he was a great guy and the best grandfather my children could have. Hug Dear baby, I will miss you very much, ”said one family.

For its part, the Department of Economics at UBA wrote: “It is with great sadness that we report the recent passing of Dr. Juan Carlos Gómez Sabaini, a home teacher who has contributed to the discipline through many works. Our condolences to his parents, friends and colleagues at this sad time “.

Gómez Sabaini worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a member of the Expert Group of the Department of Fiscal Affairs. He also had charges in the Inter-American Development Bank and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean

In Argentina, the government of Raúl Alfonsín, as Undersecretary for Tax Policy and Administration of the Ministry of Finance between 1985 and 1986, then with that of Fernando de la Rua, as undersecretary of Tax policy of Ministry of Finance between 1999y 2001.
