A Bolivian prosecution on Friday ordered the arrest of the former interim president of the Andean country, Jeanine Áñez, for the cause investigating the alleged “coup” against Evo Morales in November 2019. Specifically, the case accuses the former officials of crimes of terrorism, sedition and conspiracy. The complaint was presented by former Movement for Socialism (MAS) MP Lidia Patty, who accused Luis Fernando Camacho, governor of Santa Cruz and candidate in the presidential elections last year where Luis Arce emerged victorious, of ‘instigating with his father and several military and police commanders the protests that led to Morales’ departure.

The charges are practically the same as, during his tenure, the officials at the time attributed to Evo Morales and for which in December 2019 the arrest of the former president was ordered.

Since his resignation from the presidency, Morales has always maintained that he was the victim of a coup.
