Russian president Vladimir Poutine referred for the first time to the statements of his American counterpart Joe biden, who called him a “murderer” in a TV interview.

“As for my American colleague’s statement, really, as he said, we know each other personally. How would you respond? I tell him: stay healthy! I wish you a good health “, Putin said at a meeting with representatives of the public in Crimea and Sevastopol.

“This is the first. Second, if we talk more about this topic, here is what I would like to say. When we assess other people, or when we assess other states, other nations, we always look at ourselves in the mirror, we always see ourselves. We always change another person for who we are, ”the president said.

“I remember when I was growing up, when we would argue in the yard, we would say, ‘The one who says it is’. And that’s no way of putting it, it’s not just a joke, the psychological significance of that runs very deep. We always see our own qualities in another person and think they are the same as us. On this basis, we evaluate their actions, ”explained Putin.

Putin also mentioned “Extermination of the local population” during the development of the United States already “a very cruel period of slavery ”. He also spoke about the movement Black lives matter and how, according to him, African Americans still face cases of “injustice”.

The Russian president concluded by specifying that Moscow will not cut ties with Washington but what will work with the United States when it is “beneficial” for Russia.

“The United States as a whole is committed to engaging with us, but in areas that are of interest to the United States. We (even if they think we are the same as them) are other people, we have a different genetic, cultural and moral code, but we know how to defend our own interests, ”Putin said. And we will work with them, but in the fields which interest us ourselves and under the conditions which we consider beneficial for us. And they will have to take this into account, despite all attempts to stop our development. Despite the sanctions and insults, they will have to take this into account ”.

The day before, Biden responded in the affirmative when asked if he viewed Putin as a murderer. At the same time, he added that the United States plans to continue cooperation with Russia in areas where countries have common interests, for example in nuclear disarmament.

Biden’s statements on Putin

“VERY BAD” STATEMENTS

Previously the Kremlin called it “Very bad” Biden’s statements and said that they show that the American president does not want to improve relations with Russia.

I will only say that these are very bad statements by the President of the United States. They show that they do not want to improve relations with our country, and now we will go from there ”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during his daily press conference call.

Peskov added that what happened had never happened “never before in history” relations between the two countries.

“These relationships are very bad”, added the spokesperson, who stressed that the question of how to improve them should not be put to Russia.

Putin’s spokesman left a question unanswered about the possibility of a severing of diplomatic relations with Washington.

“At the moment, I have nothing to add on this subject. I already told you what we are going to start from now “, He said.

For her part, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria zajarova, said Moscow is awaiting an explanation from the United States for Biden’s comments about Putin.

This Wednesday, in a first reaction to Biden’s statements, Russia called its ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, in Moscow for consultations, “In order to analyze what to do and in which direction to move forward in relations with the United States”, as announced by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

This fact, unprecedented in relations between the two countries, has been described today as the “only possible action in this specific situation” by the Vice-President of the Russian Senate, Konstantín Kosachov.

“The withdrawal of the ambassador is a very strong measure, after that, in reality, there is only the breakdown of diplomatic relations”said the senator, quoted by the agency Interfax.

He added that he hopes Americans understand that ths “a red line, behind which lie the breakdown of relations, de jure or de facto (…), and a confrontation on all fronts that no one will like”.
