Four Argentines, tarnished at the Gijón Black Week Awards

Gijón’s Black Week is one of the most important festivals in Spanish literature. It functions not only as a meeting point, but also as a place of rewards, as prestigious prizes are awarded. The triads of the XXXIV edition have been announced, which will take place from July 9 to 18. There are three Argentines there: Gabriela Saidon, Claudia Piñeiro, Ana Llurba Yes Paula Rodriguez.

The prizes to be awarded are: the Hammett Prize for the best detective novel written in Spanish; the Rodolfo Walsh prize for the best non-fiction work on crime written in Spanish; the Espartaco prize for the best historical novel; the Silverio Cañada Memorial Prize for the best first detective novel published in Spanish; that of the International Detective History Competition to an unpublished work; and the Celsius Prize for the best fantasy, science fiction or horror novel.

The Queen of Gabriela Saidon is one of the finalists for the Espartaco Prize for Historical Novels, with Nemesis of Sebastien roa, The voice and the sword of Vic Echegoyen Yes The cook and the oyster of Lucia Nunez Garcia.

Cathedrals of Claudia Piñeiro is nominated for the Dashiell Hammet Award with the books Little Red Women of Marta Sanz, The Jaurías, of Alberto Gil, The silver night, of Elia Barceló Yes Corcira’s evil of Lorenzo Silva.

For her part, Ana Llurba is competing for the Celsius Prize with her novel Family constellations. Next to her, Russell’s teapot of Pablo Sebastiá Tirado, To eat you better of Giovanna rivero Yes Malasangre of Michelle Roche Rodríguez.

The first novel of Paula Rodriguez, Urgent causes, competes for the Silverio Cañada Award with Kerguelen wild cats of Marta Barrio, Lauren Marsh’s accident of Guillem Morales Yes Arena of Michelangelo West.
