The woman, identified as Priscilla Torquato da Silva, told doctors that she herself gave birth to the child and fell down the stairs with him. Quickly, tests showed the adult was not pregnant and a knife was found in her purse. On Thursday afternoon, the offender was transferred to Nilza da Silva Santos Women’s Prison.

Meanwhile, the mother, who also had a three-year-old boy, died of “a chest hemorrhage due to a perforation of the heart from a heart attack.” Both were buried this Friday morning, in the municipality of Carapebus, north of Rio de Janeiro.

Prosecutor Márcio Caldas Dias Mello, who is investigating the case, believes that “a second person participated in this crime”.
