The Pope denounced that mafia organizations “take advantage” of the situation left by the pandemic with businesses on the verge of bankruptcy or businesses going bankrupt while warning that “Get rich with corruption.”

Francisco recalled today that in Italy, the Day of remembrance of the innocent victims of the mafias at the end of the prayer of Angelus, which he held, again, in the library and did not appear in Saint Peter’s Square, due to the restrictive measures envisaged in Rome due to the pandemic.

“Mafias are present in various parts of the world and profit from the pandemic; they get rich with corruption “declared the Pope.

Francisco recalled that Saint Juan Pablo II denounced the “Culture of death” of the mafia and Benedict XVI He condemned them as “ways of death”. “These structures of sin, mafia structures, contrary to the Gospel of Christ, exchange faith for idolatry”, highlighted.

“Let us remember all the victims and renew our commitment against the mafias”said the pontiff.

On his Twitter account, Francisco also recalled with a message the world trisomy 21 day and wrote that “every child that is heralded in a woman’s womb is a gift that changes the history of a family: of a father and mother, grandparents and siblings. And this child needs to be welcomed, loved and cared for. Always!”.

And with another “tweet” he referred to the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and said that: “Racism is a virus that mutates easily and that instead of disappearing, he hides and is always on the lookout. Expressions of racism shame us again, thus demonstrating that the progress of society is not guaranteed forever ”.

The Pope also recalled that this Monday the World Water Day, a resource he said “It’s not a commodity” other “A universal symbol and a source of life and health.”

Currently 2.2 billion people live without access to safe drinking water.

The Pope denounced this situation and insisted on the fact that it is “necessary to guarantee clean water and sanitation for all”. This is why he called on political and economic leaders to work in this direction: “I am thinking, for example, of the University of Water, in my land, among those who work to advance and make people understand the importance of water. A big thank you to the Argentines who work in this water university ”.
